WESTMINSTER, MD - Two weeks ago, Carter Wright had to "rerun" his race in the 400-meter hurdles due to a technical error in the placement of the hurdles. In 30 years of coaching, I've never seen a 400-hurdle race (one of the most difficult races in track and field) run twice with only a little over an hour between races. 

Amazingly, it happened again Friday afternoon during the Carpenter-Case Invitational at McDaniel College. This time under even more bizarre circumstances. Caroline Vogelsang was hoping to set the Lynx record in her tenth separate event: the 10,000 meters. Due to time constraints, it was decided by the meet management, that the 10,000-meter race would be replaced with the 5,000 meters. Caroline already holds the Lynx record for the 5,000, so she decided to try to set the record in the Women's 400-meter hurdles. Caroline ran what appeared to be a record setting race, but an operational situation in the timing system voided the race. Again, the 400 hurdles would be run a second time. Caroline never hesitated. Not only did she win the race but, also got the record. Ironically, an hour earlier, Carter Wright broke his own record for the men's 400 hurdles for the third time in the month of April.

Marshall Whitlow continued his ever-improving performances in the sprints by running personal bests in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Cross Imbraguglio also had a huge personal best in the 400-meter running 54.50. The Lynx conclude the 2026 season at West Chester University with the WCU Last Chance Meet on Friday, May 8.
