MILLERSVILLE, PA - Rarely does every member of a team have their "best day" on the same day but, that was the case for the Lynx Track & Field team Saturday at Millersville. Season bests or lifetime bests were posted by every Carroll runner, jumper, and thrower.

With so many big performances, it would be impossible to pick just one or two to highlight. But there was one runner that established herself as one of the very best to ever run for our team. In setting school records in the 800 meters and 5000 meters, Caroline Vogelsang set school records in her eighth and ninth events while running at Carroll Community College. That gives Caroline the school records on the track in the 800, 1500, 1 mile, 3000, 3000-meter steeplechase, and 5000 meters. Not to mention in cross county for the 4k, 5k and 6k races. This Friday, Caroline will attempt to set her tenth record at the Carpenter-Case Invitational at McDaniel College in the 10,000 meters (about 6 miles). That will give Caroline the school record in every women's distance event on the track and the cross-country course. If there was to be a Mount Rushmore of great Lynx athletes, Caroline would be up there.

School records were also set by Jesse Gresh, breaking his own record in the 5000, Carter Wright with a huge effort in the 400-meter hurdles, Marshall Whitlow in the high jump, and Ezekiel Harris in the 200 meters.

While the entire team had a great day, Alyssa Ruff stood out with her outstanding efforts in the 100, 200, and 400. Always eager to race, Alyssa has accepted every challenge in her two years on the team, running all of the sprint events and displaying the kind of positive attitude that every coach hopes to see.

The track and field team competes next on Friday, April 24 at the Carpenter Case Invitational at McDaniel College and the men's relay team will head to the Penn Relays on Saturday, April 25.
