BALTIMORE, Md. - Carroll Community College earned its first victory of the season on Wednesday sweeping Baltimore City College in straight sets, 25-5, 25-5, and 25-9. Under the guidance of rookie coaches Maria Acaron and
Maddie Maggio, the Lynx improved to 1-1 on the season with a dominant performance from start to finish.
Despite competing with a limited roster, Carroll controlled the match in every phase of the game, using strong serving and aggressive offense to overwhelm BCCC. Leading the way from the service line was
Hayli Hartlaub, who recorded an impressive 11 aces, while
Kiersten Johannes added seven aces of her own. At the net,
Haleigh Hodges lead the offense with 10 kills, and
Maddi Ervin directed the attack with 17 assists.
The Lynx showcased excellent teamwork and efficiency throughout the match, maintaining constant pressure offensively while limiting opportunities for their opponents. Carroll's strong serving and balanced attack proved to be the difference as the team cruised to the straight-set victory.
With their first win of the season secured, the Lynx will look to carry that momentum into their next match as they seek to improve to 2-1 on the season. The game against Frederick Community College on September 3 was postponed due to a facility issue. The next match will be Wednesday, September 9 as the Howards Dragon head to Coppermine Pantherplex to face the Lynx.
