Some days everything goes right. The Lynx Track team had one of those days Saturday at the Blue Jay Invitational at Elizabethtown College. Producing 7 new school records and more than a dozen season's best performances, it was a day of success followed by success.
Carrie Moore and Brooke Pribulic led the effort by breaking 2 records each. Carrie flew in the triple and long jumps. And Brooke sprinted in the 100- and 400-meter dashes.
Jeshua Jerusalem for the 3rd time this season broke his own record in the 800 while
Logan Rich broke his own record in the discus. The first record of the day was set by
Caroline Vogelsang in a race she had never run before. The 3000-meter steeplechase is a race of almost 2 miles in which the competitors jump over twenty-eight 30" barriers and 7 water jumps. Caroline was fearless as she conquered the race finishing strongly to set the new record.
Season Bests performances were achieved by Kamryn Stefanowski (Shot Put & Javelin),
Alyssa Ruff (400),
Caydon Selmer (Javelin), Alex Nicolaides (Long Jump), and
Mourad Maacha (800). To end the day,
Tori Williamson ran an outstanding race from beginning to end in the 800, taking 6 seconds off her previous best time. It was the kind of day where everyone was smiling.
