COLUMBIA, MD - The Lynx Women's Soccer team headed to Howard Community College to take on the Dragons in a conference match on Tuesday. Things started inauspiciously as goalkeeper
Katie Broom landed awkwardly on her ankle just minutes before kickoff and newcomer
Patricia Rivera-Reyes volunteered to fill in.
The Lynx pressured and created numerous chances with Howard's goalkeeper making some fantastic saves. Eventually, the Lynx found the back of the net with
Natalie Sczepucha and
Lana O'Donnell scoring two goals each. Then
Talula Castanzo sent in a corner kick that was deflected in by the opponent with Carroll leading 5-0 at the half.
Rivera-Reyes made a few saves earning a clean sheet with the team scoring three more in the second half and the game ending early due to goal differential. The final score was 8-0 with Sczepucha and O'Donnell with hat tricks and
Comfort Ogunsola scoring the 8th and final goal and her first goal as a Lynx. The Lynx are now 4-2 on the season as they continue to fight for a playoff spot in their second season after earning 4th seed postseason last year. The Lynx host D1 opponents Harford on Thursday, September 25.
