Carroll Community College Lynx golf team participated in the NJCAA District Tournament this week in Bristol, TN (4/28-29) at The Golf Club of Bristol. This is a 2-day event with the competitors playing a grueling 36 holes on day one and an additional 18 holes on day two for a 54-hole combined event. The event hosted 11 teams and 2 individual competitors in the largest field that the district has ever hosted. This included colleges from NC, TN, VA, MD and OH. The weather conditions that always play a factor in golf were perfect with close to 80-degree temperatures and sunny skies both days.

On day one in the morning round, Jamison Gouge stood out with a 2 over par 73 for the Carroll Lynx team's best round, but Jacob Gouge and the rest of the team followed strongly. Jacob in the morning round carded a 76 and Hayden Brilhart and Micah Ozgar contributed with solid rounds of 83 and 89. In the afternoon round, Jacob Gouge played well again and carded a smooth 77 providing him with 2 rounds in the 70's. The rest of the team stayed respectable keeping scores in the 80's. Day 2 was Hayden's day to stand out with a 78 which included 2 birdies. The Gouge brothers also kept it close with a pair of 81's and Micah contributed with an 83. In all we had a successful week with some team members who achieved personal bests for tournament play.
