Lynx Sweep Dragons 3-0

  • Final Score: Carroll Lynx 3 – Howard Dragons 0    (25-2, 26-24, 25-22)

  • The Short Story: The Carroll Lynx jumped out to a fantastic start and were able to earn a straight sets victory to improve to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in regional play.                            

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lynx played a nearly flawless first set, winning 25-2 including at stretch of 19 straight points to close out the set.
  • The Howard Dragons found their footing in the second set, challenging the Lynx as they survived three straight set points. Carroll locked it down from there, winning the final two points to close out the set 26-24.
  • Carroll started out the third set on fire, winning the first six points in a row with three Karley Badorf kills.
  • Once again, the Dragons made a good fight of it to keep the set close, but a Kat Crochunis slam closed out the set and the match.

GAME NOTES

  • Badorf led the squad with 18 kills and 12 digs on the match. Her 18 kills matches her total from last year's match against Howard.
  • Emily McElwaine and Grace Bowman each added three kills with Hannah Breen chipping in two. McElwaine also had a staggering five blocks in the match.
  • They Lynx had six different players with assists in the match, led by sophomore Abigail Morley with 11. Morley was also second on the team with five digs.

UP NEXT

  • The Lynx will look to continue their great start to the season as they travel to Cecil College for a tri-match with Westmoreland on Saturday, September 7 at 12 PM.
  • The Cecil Seahawks are 0-4 on the season while the Westmoreland Wolfpack are 2-2 with wins over Penn Highlands and CCAC.
