Lynx Score Late, Fall to #8 Knights 7-1

  • The Short Story: The Carroll Lynx hosted the #8 nationally ranked CCBC Essex Knights as they were able to score late in a 7-1 loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lynx played a strong defensive first half, holding the vaunted Knights to three first half goals.
  • Carroll had some great chances early on as Edwin Alfaro and Kyle Kinsey both barely missed wide on fast break chances.
  • Essex kept the pressure up in the second half, adding four goals to pull away.
  • The Lynx were able to get a goal back as a long ball by Nabeel Ashley found Daniel Wojtkowiak on a run as he was able to chip a shot over the charging goalkeeper in an exciting moment for the Carroll faithful.

GAME NOTES

  • Wojtkowiak now leads the team with six goals on the year as he played a defensive midfield position for most of the game and took advantage of his rare opportunity to push forward.
  • Ashley picked up his first career collegiate point on the assist as the defender played a great all-around game.
  • James Stevens made seven saves in the game as he did everything he could to keep the ball out of his net with 34 shots coming his way.

  • The Lynx will next travel to Cecil College on Tuesday, October 8th for a 4 PM match.
  • The Seahawks are having the best season in their program's history with a 4-5 record and currently sit in eighth for the region with a 2-3 record.
