Wojtkowiak Hat Trick Highlights High Scoring Loss at Cecil

  • Final Score: Carroll Lynx 4  –  Cecil Seahawks 9
  • Records: Carroll 0-12  |  Cecil 6-6
  • Location: North East, MD – Cecil College
  • The Short Story: Daniel Wojtkowiak scored a hat-trick as the Carroll Lynx scored their most goals in a game all season, ultimately falling to Cecil in a high scoring affair.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lynx got out to a great start to the game as Wojtkowiak scored in the second minute of the game to get Carroll an early lead.
  • After Cecil scored a trio of goals to take the lead, Carroll pulled one back as Wojtkowiak was fouled by the Seahawks' goalkeeper in the box and was able to slot home the ensuing penalty kick to cut the Cecil lead in half.
  • The shorthanded Lynx conceded another goal late in the first half, trailing 4-2 at halftime while giving up five more in the second half.
  • The Lynx were able to score the last two goals of the contest as Wojtkowiak scored his third on a fast break counter attack goal.
  • Carroll scored in the last minute of the game on another fast break as Wojtkowiak crossed into the box where Nabeel Ashley hit a powerful header into the back of the net.

GAME NOTES

  • Wojtkowiak leads the team with nine goals on the year as he made the most of his opportunity to play in a more forward role.
  • Ashley scored his first career collegiate goal and now has points in back-to-back games.
  • James Stevens made eight saves in the game as he started and finished the game with Alexander Nicolaides making an additional save before going off injured.

UP NEXT

  • The Lynx will close out their regular season on Tuesday, October 15th for a 4 PM match against Alleghany College of Maryland.
  • Alleghany currently sits at 1-7-2 and are 10th in the region with a 1-4-2 record.
