Two goals in the second half came a little too late for the Lynx to mount a comeback against CCBC-Catonsville in the away game on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
The Lynx "came out strong in the first half with good end-to-end play and a couple of chances early in the game," noted Coach Tom O'Brien.
CCBC scored two quick goals on the counterattack, in the 13th and 18th minutes to go up 2-0. They scored again in the 28th minute before the Lynx regrouped and scored one of their own in the 31st minute. The goal was unassisted by Joey Brauer.
Catonsville countered with a fourth goal in the 36th minute.
"We came out in the second half with a couple of quick opportunities," affirmed O'Brien, "before they scored their fifth goal in the 49th minute. We played them tough for the next 20 minutes until they scored their final goal.
"We had two late goals by Alec Wargo," O'Brien explained, the second of which "was a brilliant unassisted bomb to the upper left of opposing team's net from about 25 yards." Both of Wargo's goals were unassisted.
The final score was 6-3.
Tim Wolf had five saves in the game. The Cardinals outshot the Lynx 21 to 9, but they were even on corner kicks with 6 each.
The Lynx play again on Thursday, Oct. 7 at home against Allegany College of Maryland. Kickoff is 4 p.m.
