In the Wednesday, Oct. 13 game against the College of Southern Maryland Hawks, the Lynx came up one goal short and fell to the visitors 2-3.
Despite their fast start and hard press, the Hawks "counterattack was successful in the 10th minute, finding their striker through the back line and slotting a 1 v. 1 past goalkeeper Tim Wolf," noted Coach Tom O'Brien.
And although the Lynx continued to press, Southern Maryland scored two unanswered goals in the 15th and 41st minute to go up 0-3 at the half.
"In the second half, we made some adjustments and again began the half on a forward posture and aggressively attacking and scored on a Justus Denning goal in the 49th minute and then again on a Joey Brauer goal in the 56th," recounted O'Brien.
Despite playing attacking soccer and outshooting their opponents during the final 34 minutes, the Lynx couldn't convert on a couple of good chances.
"The team played hard together and were effective especially in the second half but couldn't find the back of the net enough to demonstrate that on the scoreboard and with the win," O'Brien summarized.
