Despite losing their starting center back Michael Panzarotto to injury even before the Tuesday's game began, the Lynx came out strong with Aaron Ostendorf scoring the game's first goal in the 8th minute.
The WVU-Potomac State Catamounts quickly answered with a goal a minute later.
"We played well for the first 18 minutes," said Coach Tom O'Brien, "and then we lost Aaron to injury for the remainder of the game. We lost focus in the 23rd and 24th minutes and they quickly capitalized."
The Catamounts scored three more goals before the Lynx refocused and pressed in the final 20 minutes of the first half, getting a goal from Joey Brauer in the 41st minute with an assist from Alec Wargo.
"We came out strong in the second half," O'Brien noted, "missing a great chance in the 48th minute. They quickly took advantage of our drift and scored in minute 50."
O'Brien said that the Lynx played evenly in the final 40 minutes, with the Catamounts scoring their last goal in the 87th minute.
"Tim Wolf was tough in the goal with organizing reconstructed defense and distribution while cutting off many balls played into the 18," O'Brien explained.
The final score was Catamounts 6, Lynx 2.
Carroll plays again on Thursday at 4 p.m. against Montgomery Community College.
